About Robert Rotella

Robert Rotella is the founder and director of Rotella Gallery.“We see the world in color, but all too often try to render it in black and white.”          – Robert Rotella

The son of a schoolteacher and a housewife, Robert was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. He has always had a significant interest in both science and art, and holds degrees in both Chemical Engineering and Finance. He has traveled extensively throughout many parts of the world, and currently resides in the Pacific Northwest.

He acquired his interest in photography early in his life from his father, who would often take pictures of the family. He has photographed cities and people, but more recently has specialized in macro flower photography and landscape images. Robert currently shoots with a Nikon DSLR and painstakingly edits his own images in Photoshop.

Robert Rotella has a reverence and awe for the natural world. He has photographed landscapes all over the world, but after the arrival of his children, he began exploring macro photography closer to home. A self-taught photographer, his work is mainly influenced by Michelangelo, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Art Wolfe.

Robert’s work is exclusively displayed on this website and in Rotella Gallery’s by-appointment gallery in Bellevue, Washington.
